What Is a Physical?
A physical exam is a preventive wellness check-up. During your physical, a Drakos team member screens for health concerns or medical conditions that need to be treated.
Physicals generally include a review and examination of your:
- Medical history
- Family medical history
- General physical health
- Height and weight
- Vital readings such as blood pressure, heart rate, respiration rate and temperature
- Vision
- Heart
- Lungs
- Abdomen
- Reflexes
- Neuro evaluation
- Muscle strength
- Lab tests (as needed)
- Immunizations (as needed to ensure you’re up to date)
Please note, a sports, camp or school physical does not replace your child’s annual wellness exam done by his or her pediatrician.
Reasons for a Physical
Getting a regular physical exam is important to your child’s overall health. In many cases, proof of physical health is required to participate in a sport, attend camp, start a new job or enroll in school.
In addition, to general well-being physicals, Drakos here are a few types of physicals we offer:
- Sports physicals: Many sports teams require you to have a physical to ensure you’re healthy enough to play without risk to your health.
- Camp physicals: Camps may require a physical to attend. This helps protect everyone’s general health and make sure campers are physically able to perform activities without risk of injury or illness..
- School(K-12/College) physicals: Most school districts require students to get a physical before they can start school. This helps protect the student body and ensures each student is well enough to attend.
- Pre-employment physicals: Most employers require new hires to complete a medical exam, ensuring their overall health for the job. It allows companies to assess the health status of prospective employees and facilitates record-keeping for tracking changes in employee health over time.
What Do I Need to Bring with Me to My Physical?
Check with your school, sport, camp or employer regarding what they require. Often, there are specific forms you need the doctor to complete. Please also bring:
- Physical form and/or requirements
- Immunization record

- Identification/driver’s license
